Covid and malaria: "I am vaccinated, I am protected".
As the world has struggled for more than 18 months to curb the Covid-19 pandemic, good news has just been announced by the WHO, concerning the scourge of malaria, which kills 260,000 children under 5 years of age each year. A British vaccine has just been validated which would make it possible, according to the first tests, to reduce malaria in its severe form by 30%.
Hopefully this malaria vaccine will be more widely deployed in Togo than the anti-covid vaccine!
Recall that only 5 to 10% of Togolese have received the 2 doses of the anti-Covid vaccine to date, due to a glaring lack of doses available on site.
