Esther and her dad ...
We are glad to have received photos from Esther after she returned from the hospital. She seems to be in good shape, and the antibiotic treatment should get her back on her feet quickly.
Esther and her dad are happy to meet again!

Latest news from Esther!
You remember that little Esther had returned to her family just before Christmas, after 2 weeks of hospitalisation in early December at the hospital in Afagnan, near Lomé.
Care continued at the Puits de Jacob clinic to provide dressings, but we knew that an operation would be essential to reduce the infection.
An operation opportunity arose quickly, following the return of French doctors specializing in maxillofacial surgery at the hospital. So back to Afagnan in mid-January for Esther, this time accompanied by her mother and the faithful Pastor. The operation took place successfully 3 days after her admission ...
Good news ! Esther is allowed to go home, but she will have to follow antibiotic treatment scrupulously for a fortnight. We are looking forward to the photos of her return.
How much effort required from the family and kilometers traveled in difficult conditions to finally catch a glimpse of the little girl's recovery. Esther is not yet fully healed, but we are on the right track ...
A big big thank you to Pastor Sidoine (photo on the left), who spared no effort and did not hesitate to leave his own family for several weeks to help Esther and her family. It does honor to his mission!

Nadège is saved

Nadège is saved!
During our last stay in Sagbadaï, we discovered a little girl of 15 months, with acute malnutrition (5.2 kilos ...).
On our initiative and after discussion with the health center nurse and mother, who was without resource, it was agreed to send Nadège to the hospital for a consultation.
With the financial support of our Association, the little girl was hospitalized for several weeks in the hospital of Sokode for nutritional rehabilitation. Nadège has now returned to her family in Sagbadaï and is well ...
Thank you, health center nurse, nurses of the hospital in Sokodé, and to all you donors. We are especially pleased and proud of the good news ...

Our health ambitions

The medical infrastructure is almost nonexistent in the village of Sagbadaï, and the distance from the city of Sokode (twenty kilometers) makes access extremely difficult when required by an emergency.
Our goal is to put into operation the local clinic and install an access to emergency care, particularly for children and expectant mothers.

Nos objectifs SPESS

S.P.E.S.S.

The SPESS was founded in 2008 in Brittany as a non profit making association to support the disadvantaged and the poor in Togo.
The original idea was to develop a farm and traditional cultures in the small village of Sagbadaï, located 300 kilometers north of the capital Lome in the province of Sokode.

We then focused more on the questions of education and health. In 2012 we started the project of building a solid school building (for primary classes) in order to allow children to be educated in decent conditions. In 2014, we built the college buildings to enable a better continuity between primary and secondary education as many primary-schooled children drop out due to a lack of facilities and finance.

Health is also a main priority and it is imperative to improve the existing local infrastructure to allow access to care for the poor. One of our main projects is to renovate the old and dilapidated dispensary in Sagabadaï. They have no running water, no electricity and no real equipment.
