Meeting today to discuss in more detail the Community Center. It is advancing well in the budget. We are very happy with the work on site: we participated in the site meeting on Tuesday morning with the contractor, with our on-site consultant Vincent and with the SPESS Togo office. The planning of the latest actions is validated (plastered walls, floor, ceiling, paintings, electrical wiring preparation), and the final reception of the building could occur in late March 2018, before the manufacture and installation of furniture and equipment. Everything is going well on this side, and we are already thinking about the organization and guarding aspects of the premises. Work is also underway to define the best solution for the electrical installation: it will probably be solar ...
Subsequently we visited our two farms in progress: rather good news on this side as well. On the "farm of Moses" (that given in rent to Moses and his family), the production of dried beans, and corn, with vegetables and garden plants during the dry season, will be sufficient to feed the family during the year, and leave some financial resources. The "Cashew Farm" has also produced a good amount of beans, waiting for the growth of trees planted last year, and which will produce cashew nuts in a few years. Many villagers participated in the works (planting, weeding, harvesting, threshing), and received a salary. The financial equilibrium is reached, but we are still waiting for the valorization of the harvests to draw a positive balance sheet.
